HERencia Event
“Nuestra HERencia” is an initiative by the Latino Community Coalition to honor the Latina pioneers of Grand Rapids by naming an alleyway in their memory. This project celebrates not the titles or accolades but the foundational contributions of the first Latinas who settled here, anchoring their families and fostering community for generations. We seek to recognize a deceased Latina who significantly impacted her family and neighbors by sharing her values, culture, and traditions. Her story, a vital part of our collective narrative, will be archived at Cook Library, ensuring her legacy endures as a testament to her life and impact on our community.
